teaching

My work prioritizes critical care, regenerative practices, and transformative pedagogy, with an emphasis on ecologies of care, collective grief, and feminist and eco-social approaches. Situated within social practice, it unfolds at the intersection of art, research, activism, teaching, and community engagement.

In my teaching practice, I develop pedagogical frameworks that create infrastructures for collective inquiry while honoring diverse learning styles. I integrate embodied methods for reading, analyzing, and interpreting critical theory with spatial, environmental, and relational practices. My teaching draws on community-based study, collective inquiry, critical mapping, deep sensing and listening, slow collective reading, adjacent and diffractive reading practices, case study analysis, small group discussion, and collaborative material and embodied experiments. These methods often extend into shared meals, community cooking, collective resource libraries and glossaries, as well as experimental writing and publishing practices.

Learning environments are one of the central interests of my pedagogy, and I often situate learning within specific contexts to engage directly with the conditions under study. For example, I have facilitated a course on housing politics inside a residential building slated for demolition; led an 18-hour seminar on Ursula K. Le Guin’s feminist science fiction novel Always Coming Home within a gallery exhibition on data and resource extraction; and organized a 24-hour “dreamover” in an urban water basin focused on generative conflict and coexistence across difference, among others.

Through the ongoing projects Learning Grounds, and Learning to Grow, Learning to Grieve, I approach growing spaces as sites for eco-social and grief-informed pedagogical experimentation, exploring how learning can emerge through collective practices of care, ecology, and situated experience.

For more information on my teaching philosophy see here and here as well as links found throughout this webpage.
